I think one of my tumblr hats is Belated Movie Reviews because I just watched this one and had to share my thoughts.
This movie is delightful. Currently, my cheeks hurt from quaintly smiling throughout two thirds of the film. It’s one of those movies that, regardless of your age, reminds you of a time of innocent love and how absolutely lovely it feels. I don’t want to say this movie is a romantic comedy because despite being romantic and despite being a comedy, it doesn’t follow the hollowed-out blueprint of a romantic comedy. It’s so much more complex and human and realistic, which I love. And the thing I like the most about this movie is that it taught me a lesson. I’m not sure it was going for that, or even if anyone else will feel the same way I did, but it really made me realize how precious time is with the people you love and how you should just stop and “be” for a moment or two and take in what is going on in your life. Just stop and look around, even at the most mundane of times and think, “wow, I’m in the kitchen cracking eggs on my best friend’s counter, getting egg yoke everywhere and putting too much cheese on her breakfast, but damn, this is LIFE and I wouldn’t want it any other way.” Not everything has to be perfect, or formal, or prescribed to be recognized, so go ahead, give yourself a moment to take in your surroundings and recognize how lucky you are to have other human beings with which to share life.
